Healthy glowing skin is a combination of healthy eating, exercise and taking good care of the skin using only natural organic ingredients without harmful chemicals which can be detrimental to our health.
Some ingredients in skincare are actually industrial strength chemicals and petroleum by-products.

All you need is few minutes in the morning and evening to cleanse, tone and moisturise your skin.  What a wonderful way to start the day by cleansing your face, stimulating circulation and refreshing the skin with  floral water enriched with plant extracts. Your skin will feel soft and silky smooth.
All you need is a light application of nutrient rich day cream to leave your skin feeling pampered and protected all day.   Also what a lovely way to end the day by taking few minutes to pamper yourself and infuse your skin with luxurious rich moisturisers that have been enriched with high concentration of active organic ingredients with ultra healing powers of rose hip and plant extracts to work on you skin while you sleep.

You will feel the difference evolving as the high concentration of fresh active ingredients begin to repair,

Gumboots mandatory at The Blues Festival

April 10, 2009
The must have item of the 2009 Blues & Roots Festival

The must have item of the 2009 Blues & Roots Festival

Do not leave home without your gumboots.  It will come as no surprise to the many regular Blues and Roots goers that Belongil Fields already resembles a swamp.  More years than not the Blues and Roots Festival is wet.  It is more or less the norm.  No sooner have the campers put their tent pegs into the ground and the skies open.
This year the rain got in before the campers,  with the best part of two weeks worth prior to the big event.  You can imagine the state of the grounds.  To my suprise  there were a fair portion of the crowd last night wearing thongs!  After a while, as their feet became muddier and muddier, it became difficult to determine exactly what was on their feet.   The tell tail trail of mud up the middle of their backs,  flicked up from their thongs was the give away.

Mud or no mud, everybody was out to have a good time.  And as for the couple of showers during the evening, the tents are so massive there is plenty of shelter for everyone.  I did not see any unrest or aggro, just lots of dancing and lots of smiles and of course lots of good music.

My B&R tip..If you are concerned your shoes will not cut it and keep the water out, put a fruit and vegie bag over your socks before you slip your foot into your shoe.  Dry feet make for more dancing!

If you are lucky enough to be attending have a great time.

Heart Beat Designs from Byron Bay

April 6, 2009

Nadia’s work is as varied as it is beautiful.  This is only a small sample. To view her gallery go to www.heartbeatofbyron.com

Paperbark

The feature tiles from Heartbeat Designs are designed and hand made by Nadia who settled in Byron Bay in 1980 to raise her family after travelling and living in various countries, particularly in India.  She has always been captivated by the visual world and has taken photographs since she was 14 years old. She has brought together her love of Nature, colour and photography with a completely unique technique which she applies to the creation of beautiful feature tiles using organic materials such as flowers, bark, and leaves – the leaves of the bodhi tree (ficus religiosa) figure in a lot of her work as a symbol of wisdom and consciousness – as well as acrylic, water colours, natural ochres and her photographs. A lot of her work is layered in a way where one’s imagination may unfold.

Heartbeat tiles can be set into bathroom or kitchen walls, built into furniture such as table tops, mounted into stone walls, the possibilities are endless.  The small tiles make great coasters.  Heartbeat tiles look beautiful displayed in their own right as art pieces, hanging on a wall or free standing on the edge of a bath tub or a window sill.

Are the Byron Bay Markets on Today?

April 4, 2009

 rainraingoaway
The big question.  To check you can ring the Community Center on 02) 66 80 97 03.  On that number you will find a recorded  message updated around  7am Sunday morning .  Once the decision has been made,  market or no market, it will be aired via  99.9 Bay FM.
I have to leave before the 7 am decision is made, but if you are coming  any distance l would recommend you make a quick call and confirm  the markets are on.
The  Butler St Reserve is bound to be soggy .  Pack your gumboots and  grab the umbrella on the way out the door!

Byron Underwater Festival 09

April 2, 2009

Diving into Byron Bay

Diving into Byron Bay

Divers get to check out some very beautiful parts of the world and Byron is no exception.  The main dive site, 2.5 km off shore,  is called Julian Rocks  and it is ranked in the top 10 Australian dive sites.  AboriAccording to the traditional landowners, the Bundjalung people, the  rock  was formed when a jealous husband threw his spear at the canoe of his wife and her lover.  The canoe broke in two and sank. Only the prow and the stern stuck out of the water, creating what is now known as Julian Rocks.
This site is highly regarded for its abundant and diverse  marine creatures, especially the  larger ones!

So from Monday the 27th of April to Sunday the 3rd of May at Julian Rocks, the 2009 Byron Underwater Festival will be held.  If you have ever wanted to experience this marine environment for yourself, now is the time.  Come and participate – whether you want to learn more about it, dive it, snorkel it, kayak it … or even paint it.

You can check out the full program at http://www.underwaterfestival.com.au/

Go on, get wet!

Hopefully for the Festival the sun will be shining. (I think the large marine creatures will be there regardless, please try not to swallow your reg..)
